Supermarkets are resource buildings in Tropico 4: Modern Times that take the place of marketplaces. Supermarkets act the same way but they employ more people, have higher upkeep, storage capacity, and a flat 20 point increase in food quality for any meals obtained from it. Supermarkets also allow control over the kind of food available that can further influence food quality.
- Junk Food: The supermarket specializes in food of the greasy and sugary kind. This increases food quality by 10 due to how tasty everything is but lowers life expectancy due to the unhealthiness.
- Normal Food: The default work mode, which sells average food for average effect.
- Healthy Food: The supermarket only stocks food low in fats, salts, sugars, and taste. This increases the life expectancy of everyone eating there but lowers their food quality by 10 from the bland options.
