For buildings of the same name in other Tropico games, see Palace.

The Palace is a building in Tropico 3 and Tropico 4. It serves as the headquarters for Tropico's government and the current presidente's home. As such, it's the primary target of the rebels, who will occasionally attack the building in the hopes of demolishing it. If the palace is ever lost in this way, the game is lost.

The presidente can interact with the palace to make a speech from the balcony. These speeches cause passing citizens to stop what they're doing and gather around to listen, gaining Respect in the process.

In the Modern Times (Tropico 4) expansion, in 1971, it becomes possible to try and upgrade the palace into a presidency. This requires four steps; having a population of 250, having $20,000 in Swiss bank account funds, having an average happiness of 60, and paying $20,000 out of the treasury for the upgrade.

Upgrades[]

  • Gardens: The addition of some plant life, park benches, and a fountain increases the beauty of the palace by 20. Costs $5,000.
  • Sentry-Boxes: Small cubicles at the front of the palace which allow the palace guards to rest and entertain themselves while on duty, increasing their job quality by 20. Costs $7,000.
  • Presidente Statues: Places two large and imposing statues of the presidente at either side of the main entrance, preventing any unhappy citizens from starting protests around the palace. Costs $10,000.

Work Modes[]

  • Normal Training: Soldiers here will get the standard training.
  • Special Ops Training: Soldiers here will get rigorous and advanced training, increasing their experience rate but reducing their job quality by 15%.

Trivia[]

According to the main menu of Tropico 4, the palace is located on Tropico Road 1 and the phone number is 0800-4-7853 (0800-I-RULE).
