Colonial forts are buildings in Tropico 4. They can't be built; some islands simply have them at the start of the game.

Colonial forts can, for a price, be converted for use in either law enforcement or tourism.

Dungeon

Dungeons are essentially bigger and better reeducation prisons. In addition to internal use, Tropico can lease the dungeon to an allied superpower.

Work Modes

• Tropican Dungeon: Tropico uses the dungeon itself. Prisoners kept here will have their respect locked at 100 for several years after their release, but will live a few years less too.
• Lease to the US: If Tropico is allied to the US, the dungeon can be leased to them. This gives the island $3,760 every year ($4,000 minus the $240 upkeep charge), but keeps everything inside it top secret, preventing any Tropicans from working there.
• Lease to the USSR: If Tropico is allied to the USSR, the dungeon can be leased to them. This gives the island $1,760 every year ($2,000 minus the $240 upkeep charge), but keeps everything inside it top secret, preventing any Tropicans from working there.
