Ancient Ruins can only be constructed on existing undeveloped ancient ruins sites. Provides fun for tourists. Preferred by backpacker and cultural tourists. Visitors must be well-off or better. Beauty increases the efficiency.

Note that not every map has undeveloped ancient ruins sites.

From gladiatorial arenas to ancient Pitz pits, the ancient ruins of Tropico have mostly been 'enhanced' by professional 'imagineers', also known as 'crooks'.

Work modes[]

  • Almost Pristine: Basic settings.
  • Theme Park Exploits: Preferred by relaxation, thrill-seeking, and child tourists. The base fee is increased by 10%. The base service quality is increased by 5. Adds 1 job positions.
  • Archeological Digging Site: Base fee is increased by 300% and visitors needs to be filthy-rich. Base wage in increased by $5 (does not scales with budget). Workers requires college education. Visitor slots decreased to 2 per employed worker. This building generates Knowledge points. Not preferred by any tourists.
  • Unofficial Scavenging Site: The building has no visitor slots. The base wage is increased by 200%. This building decreases crime safety nearby by 15. The building generates money for the Swiss Bank Account.
